Notice that BKM used to be Yaman and there looks to be 2 butterfly's in this era.
Fact Clay considered easy meat back in the day after Jones and Cooper, so Sonny training studiously for a four rounder before chasing his daily whiskey with women.
All the money was 1-2 rd KO of the Lip but for the best laid plans of mice and men.
2nd fight a French farce.
No fix. It was more valuable to hold onto the HW Title than throw it away on one payday (fix.)
It's seldom, to never makes financial sense to give up the HW Title.
Besides, the Lucchese Crime Family was reeling backward from the pounding the FBI has just given the IBC.
Blinky Palermo (Liston's manager) and Frankie Carbo (IBC puppet master) were both in federal prison serving 20+ sentences at that time. (1960).
It is hard to imagine Boxing being that dirty after the IBC was taken down.
Ali-Liston II
IMHO Liston tanked the fight on his own. Whether it was out of fear of assassination or because he realized he couldn't win (and looked for a soft spot to lay down) we will never know.
No mob fix.
(Back to the FBI.) The fact that the FBI looked into both fights and came up empty both times counts for something.
They are pretty good at what they do and even if they couldn't find the fire they would have found some smoke, but there was no smoke.

- -Clearly I indicate Sonny trained for the early KO for the first, so let me add, mob fighters don't quit fights unless directed to. I gather the negated their losses with enough bets on Clay by then.
Clearly Walcott, Ali, and Fleischer made the 2nd fight a French farce, spur of the moment unplanned as noone wants to look that ******, NOONE!!!

Liston claims he tore it in the first round. Are you saying it was torn even in the Patterson fight? Any proof of that?
Crawl away, dumbo.

So you're saying he injured his arm, right? What is the purpose of your drivel then? The shlt was torn in the first round and began sending blood down his arm. 8 Doctors attested to it, and had their work looked over by even more doctors.
I'm tired of having conversations with people who can't admit that they are wrong. Go cry to someone else over whatever agenda you apparently can't live without.

Laying bets mid fight I know was something you could do in the 1920s, back then they had bookmakers at ringside, but could it still be done (say by phone) in the 1960s?
Does casino sports book ******** today allow for mid fight bets?Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 05-01-2020, 08:14 AM.

If a mobster, they could bet on anyone via phone or ringside. Point is no way Sonny quits a fight without permission.
Why the rematch in Podunk, Maine barely accessible in 1960s America?
