He actually rarely ran headlong into anything, and while he was mad on offense, he based nearly all of it off very solid defense and brilliantly timed counter punching. He was more of a counter puncher than anything. Though he did have an iron chin when he did get nailed.

He got beat by guys at 154 and above, not because they were better necessarily, but because he was old, fat, out of shape, smaller than everyone (you say Hearns, yet Hearns was in his prime with about a decade of youth on Duran, with literally a foot in height and reach advantage, while that was about Duran's 7th division, and 20 pounds above his best division at 135). He just didn't belong at 154 and above.

His flaw, like Toney more recently, was laziness, food, booze, women and partying ie. excess.

I mean, check this out. Its a clinic on offensive counter punching, and defensive savvy. That move at 0.20 is just sublime. Slides back as he slips and dodges three shots, then as De Jesus follows him in, he slips the big right hand, spins him into the ropes perfectly as he slips around and rips a body shot that literally doubled him over, and a series of head shots to follow it up. The end fight counter right is timed to perfection too.

Duran was an absolute master at rolling with punches. Not to mention damn good at shifting so he'd take punches on his shoulders instead of his chin.

In post-lightweight career, Roberto Durán became recklessly hedonistic and undisciplined between fights.

Joe Louis: used to drop his left hand after a jab , at least in the early part of his carreer.

Mayweather Jr: is not a good finisher. Even at lower weights, although being much more offensive than nowadays, he never seemed to be a good finisher.

Pacquaio: tends to lunge in too much and to over commit. Also a certain lack of inside game.

Tyson: abbandoned his jab, fell in love with his power. He also lacks resilience when his will to win is tested.

          Monzon: Somewhat stiff, ungraceful .

More like ****, anger issues, insecurities, and no heart. And lack of any strategy later on in his fights.

Norton - Being too calculated to the point of getting overwhelmed
Holyfield - Not finishing the job/giving breaks
Frazier - Predictable pattern of head movement at times, often used same game plan
Dempsey - Fantastic head movement, but because of this would leave hands low and get caught sometimes
Baer - Joked and horsed around too much and didnt take things seriously, no defense
Julian Jackson - Didnt do well when cornered/stayed still

George Foreman - lack of stamina
Marvin Hagler - bad gameplans and/or bad corner
Manny Pacquiao - no inside fighting skill
Michael Spinks - lack of physicality
Mike Tyson - can only fight coming forward
Erik Morales - never blocked left hooks
Winky Wright - didn't finish fights

Spinks was one of the strongest lightheavies that I've ever seen.
