Great list, but Hearns should be top 5 imo

I would say he's a top 5 welterweight in terms of ability, but there is no way his resume is good enough to get him anywhere near the top 5.

Yes I think my heart may have over-ruled my head in terms of ability for Hearns... Momentarily forgot he beat Benitez and Duran at 154... But true, his 147 resume, does leave that little bit to be desired..

Just out of interest... who do you think he could have fought, to be placed higher?

Well the 2 you just mentioned are the most obvious! If he had beaten Bentiez and Duran at welter not light middle he would have a resume worthy of the top 5.

Other than that instead of moving up after the Leonard lose he could have stuck at 147 and cleared out the division after SRL exited. Fought the likes of Curry, Starling and McCrory. It would have given him a better welter resume, but probably have weakened his p4p standing. He would likely have outgrown 147 in any case.

                Welterweight rankings

                Nice list!

I'm not that familiar with the old time boxers, but I would rate
Luis Rodriguez over Jose Napoles and Carmen Basilio .

The Carmen Basilio I remember fighting SRR and Gene Fullmer was a
                middleweight.

Before winning the middleweight title Basilio was a 2 time welterweight champ. He has a good welterweight resume. He beat the likes of Tony DeMarco, Johnny Saxton and Billy Graham.

I'm surprised I didn't get any flak for including Mayweather
