Oh yeah, I remember hearing on HBO at the time about Akinwande being a mandatory. Only other fights I've seen with him was against Lewis and Zolkin.

I always thought King was very careful with matching Tyson after prison. He made the mistake of underestimating Holyfield.

Yeah i agree,, He knew tyson was mentally not checked into boxing, and that pressure fighters like tyson, frazier, hatton, have short shelf lives.. Look at his opponents, mcneely, mathis, seldon, bruno,, all were never very good or way past it in bruno's case... They had also thought holyfield to be shot, after getting beat by moorer, stopped by bowe, looked slow and old vs cyzz. King thought holyfield was ripe for the picking and still had the name value to make it a big fight.........

There were huge fights for tyson ie foreman, bowe, morrison, mercer, lewis

I never thought Akinwande was a very talented fighter. I believed he just had good size and reach. He may've made some good work for Tyson post-jail, though. But, if I were DK matching Mike I'd have went from Seldon to Botha. There was really no reason to fight Holyfield in November of '06 IMO. My thoughts after they announced that match was "why?"

I remember Akinwande but whats hard too shake is him clinging onto Lewis for dear life in sheer fear.... Tyson would have him paralyzed with panic and terror.
Easy Tyson win. Mike Followed the exact career path his team had planned only Evander had a bit more in the tank than advertised!
The other thing I remember most about Henry was that I had this freind who knew nothing about boxing or any fighters past or present but was a big Akinwande fan!? Was really random...

How can anyone forget lol.. I certainly can't...

Day b4 the fight, one of the local drunks insisted on a £50 bet, saying Akinwande would be the new champ..
Knowing full well it was a safe bet (if only 4 piss taking reasons) I shook on it gladly
Strolled into the boozer a few days later, only to be told he'd thrown himself under a train... Was over a woman, and the fact Henrietta faught like one, kinda says it all really

I remember watching his fight with Jeremy "Monster" Williams during the afternoon back in '96. Williams was hyped up big time back then and I thought he'd win.
Then when he fought Lewis, a friend of mine called me to tell me about the DQ because I couldn't watch it live....

                Ahhh good times

Seems to me Henry wasn't the type of fighter Tyson would have been protected from.

Seldon was just perfect for Tyson, I remember Seldon-Hipp in the undercard of Tyson's first comeback fight that the winner is sure to win the Tyson sweepstakes.

Holdin' Hank would have made Tyson look ineffective while putting on a negative fight.

Bad for marketing him as reborn. Spoilers are usually inconvenient for everyone.
