Who remembers Pietrzykowski - Clay fight ?...

...during the Olympic Games in Rome when Clay's carreer started ? My Father (who was an avid boxing fan) told me that Clay was slightly better but somehow lucky that Pietrzykowski (who had a deadly punch) did not reach Clay's chin. I wonder what would happen with Clay if he had been KO'd (let's speculate) -- would he have shared Tate's problems who was brutally KO'd by Stevenson 20 years later ? Or would he have been able to start a carte blanche when turning pro ?

Guess only ****heads are remebered here, so much for good fights. FYI some amateur fights are much better than pro ****** clapping. What I wonder, this Clay is your Ali, or whomever he called.

This is so far ahead of my time that I have no perspective on it. Maybe someone else here can offer more than I can. As far as getting KO'd, either the fighter has a chin or he doesn't. I don't think one amateur fight has any relevance to an entire professional career.

Lots of things happened 4 years before I was born that I don't remember.

Don't be so bitter, OP. We call get old.

Yep, they fought in the lightheavyweight division. Amateur boxing had a bit different weight divisions.
