I'd like to point out that holding a college degree, having 'wit', or making your own barbecue grill line doesn't necessarily make you an 'intellectual'.

The Klitschko's would classify as intellectuals, though.

And maybe Nikolay Valuev, oddly. He writes beautiful poems and is a deep thinker.

Gene Tunney -- was a George Bernard Shaw's buddy...

Nathan Cleverly -- he holds and university degree in mathematics...

Im not saying he has a high IQ but Mike Tyson says a lot of deep free thinking stuff, in between homicidal rants of course

Well the guy DOES know is boxing history and sounds pretty smart on boxing broadcasts. Yeah, heard about the Klits having PHDs and that they play chess on a regular basis, as does Lennox Lewis.

This is true but more often than not it is a sign of some kind of intelligence, no?

klitschkos, ali, marquez, roy jones, tyson, de la hoya, hopkins, devarryl williamson, andre ward etc..

there are plenty. i think many fighters are deceptively smart but tone it down for their image, the last thing promoters want is fans looking at fighters as human beings and not bags of flesh to get ripped apart for their amusement.
