I dont doubt that bruno's right cross as a punch in itself might have been more powerful than tyson or foreman......he certainly knocked out plenty of guys with it. He simply wasn't as good as tyson or foreman and rather less likely to find the perfect shot against an opponent than either.

I ve got a feeling that tyson or foremans uppercuts would have been heavier than brunos. Probably hooks too.

it almost seems heresy to suggest that bruno hit harder than legends like tyson or foreman......but we might have to suspend our opinions now and again. Given a perfect shot against an inanimate object bruno might well punch harder with the right cross in a scientific sense.

No doubt he hit hard, i just don't think it's harder than Tyson or especially foreman.. Tyson's power was mostly due to his body movement, Bruno is probably the harder puncher if they just stand and punch, but if mike uses his legs and explodes he is more powerful..

Foreman hits harder than anyone ever.. Bruno could land at will on Frazier and he would never do what foreman did to him.. Even in old age all foreman had to do was land one shot, with no explosiveness what so ever and he could end a fight

Agreed, successful use of punching power is always going to be a conduit of boxing skill and timing. How well you take a punch is in part about how well you anticipate the blow and tense your neck muscles and move your head slightly to take some of the impact off it. Therefore the better the skill and timing the more chance that you can use the force of your punch to its fullest potential by landing punches that the opponent never anticipates. There is also the matter of being able to throw your hardest punch with accuracy during the intensity of the fight, a lot easier when you are just hitting a bag or pads.

I wouldnt doubt Bruno hitting harder though, he has a way higher KO % than Foreman or Tyson. Only thing is he wasnt as scary so its easy to overlook him imo

The part in bold is all that matters. I haven't seen the test but if it was carried out, it would have been on a still, inanimate object, with which Bruno could get his full force.

In terms of movement and speed of punch, Bruno doesn't even come close to Tyson. I'd much rather be in the ring with Bruno than a prime Tyson.

Tyson had said Ruddock was the hardest puncher he'd faced but Bruno came closer to knocking him down.. Also interesting, I always thought Lewis had a scary right hand. But, if you recall Mike says post-fight that he could take Lewis' punches and the real reason he was stopped was that his swollen eyes prevented him from seeing them coming.. Pure power, I'd have to go with Foreman. I'd always believed that..

I never saw it if it's out there but I always think of my dad telling me over and over that a sparring partner of Bruno and Shavers said they were about the same punching power. So if Bruno came out over Tyson it wouldn't surprise me much.

Interesting. In the Ringside episode on Lewis, Tommy Morrison was interviewed and he said the same thing about Lennox, that he wasn't the hardest puncher he faced, but was hurt by him because of punches he didn't see coming.
