I was not going to add to this thread but it is surprising this guy wasn't mentioned.

What was itLLangford said about McVea? I read it in Clay Moyles biography and just can't remember it, but it was funny.

Before Langford went around the world in search of fights, a friend of his gave Langford a large key. Langford wanted to know what the key was for - his friend told him "Boy, if you can find anyone uglier than yourself give him that there key." Langford thought he'd never have to give it up... until he met Sam McVea. When Langford handed him the key, he explained the reasoning behind it and said "It'll be a while before you'll ever have to give up that key."

McVea responded with "Lawdy, Mrs. McVea's son Sammy ain't never gonna win no beauty contests. I guess I'm stuck with this here key for life!"

Jack Johnson also stated hat McVea was the ugliest fighter ever born.

                      That McVea story is great.

And the boxer I used to hate to watch because he was the polar opposite of handsome was Juilo Cesar Green, but it was like passing a car wreck it was so unsettling I couldn't turn away.

I tried to google a pic but there was only one and it was a side view from far away so I must have the safe search on. Lol
