Jack Dempsey in Joe Louis's Era

How does the Giant killer stack up in Joe Louis's era? Mainly during his dominance, not come back but if you want go ahead.

Dempsey already put Sharkey to sleep so remove him.

    Primo Carnera:
I'd give Primo less chance than Sharkey had. Mid round KO.

    Max Baer:
People will bleed. Dempsey takes it.

    James J. Braddock:
    Dempsey on most days.

    Max Schmeling:
Similar to Braddock, i'd edge Dempsey.

    Joe Louis:
    Louis by late TKO.

    Tommy Farr:
Jack by UD or very late KO.

    Billy Conn:
Dempsey by late stoppage if Conn can't stick it out to the split.

Jack should defeat the rest of the bum of the month club.

But for fun why not mention the rest.

    Jersey Joe Walcott:
Dempsey by decision on most days.

    Ezzard Charles:
Charles by decision or very late TKO.

    Rocky Marciano:
    Rocky by 13th round TKO.

    Archie Moore:
Moore takes it by unanimous decision.

Sharkey actually deserved a rematch considering how that fight went.

I think he would kill Marciano. Dempsey had faster hands and feet, more fighting smarts+experience, and hit harder.

I wouldn't wager a guess as to Dempsey versus so many individual fighters. I am beginning to detect a real bias for Dempsey though. Sure he was superb but so were a lot of other guys and Dempsey floundered a bit at times against the likes of Tunney (another great fighter for sure), etc.

Its hard to compare speed because people fought different technically. Dempsey was still in an era when a lead was a short compact affair with the palm up and where fighting inside was a key component of survival in the ring.

The chances of Jack Sharkey beating a prime Dempsey are so minimal it's not worth it.

Never been a huge dempsey fan,,, But to be fair, I think he would do fairly well vs louis era guys...

I think billy conn would beat him, and i also think he would get stopped by at least one or 2 guys.. If its an old dempsey fighting marciano, like joe did, i think the rock would ko an old demspey with ease

                    Primo Carnera:
Dempsey takes him out, Primo seems, from the footage I've seen and the stuff I've read as a decent fighter with great size (fr the time) and more than average power. But he had a suspect chin and Dempsey's power would topple him eventually.

                    Max Baer:
Possibly the most fun fight of the lot but Dempsey takes it by a very late stoppage. Baer at his best could with stand some serious punches.

                    James J. Braddock:
Dempsey beats him up. No happy ever after for the Cinderella Man.

                    Max Schmeling:
dempsey again, all day, too much speed, power and ferocity.

                    Joe Louis:
This would be a great fight. If the power of lesser men got to Louis, Dempsey would hit that chin and hit it often. If Louis can withstand the pressure, the power and the speed he can eek out a close decision. I don't think Dempsey wins a decision here.

                    Tommy Farr:
Not much power but could take a show, I think Dempsey probably stops him mid rounds.

                    Jersey Joe Walcott:
I think Walcott could out box Dempsey here. Tie him up, hit him with angles, don't think Dempsey fought any boxer quite like this guy.

                    Ezzard Charles:
I see Chales outboxing him and winning a wide UD as long as he stays away from the power.

                    Rocky Marciano:
Wow, Marciano would get hit all night but I doubt he gets stopped, could Marciano hit and hurt Dempsey often enough? I think so. Who gets stopped? Dempsey in my opinion, Marciano dropping him around teh 13th or 14th and stopping him.

                    You didn't mention Archie Moore:
So here goes, I think Moore has the skills and the wiley know how of an old pro to frustrate Dempsey but could he take Dempsey's power? If he can, then he decisions the Manassa Mauler.
