Nothing about it strikes me as 'obvious' or 'clear'..
Clearly and obviously, the ref, the judges and everyone at the WBA, were struck in the same way.. Only Larry Merchant, seemed positive (it was after)
Does anyone know, how long it took the wba to overturn the decision ?
It was the boxing commission that changed the outcome.
"Twelve days later the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board decided to overturn the outcome." Larry Hazzard the NJ commissioner left it up to the WBA on whether to return the title to Starling or give it to Molinares. The after that the WBA decided Molinares keeps the belt but must face the mandatory, Mark Breland.

(some of this I had to look up, my memory is not that good )

Thanks for taking the time to find something I could'nt (or missed) Seen quite a lot of sympathy for Starling, but what about Molinares
Marlon got his title back and a winning payday vs Honeyghan, but imo Molinares did nothing wrong. Just a limited but hungry fighter, fighting out of his skin..
To see him with two closed eyes, crying with joy was very sad when you consider, he now belongs in the 'Forgotten Fighters' thread.

Your welcome Mickey Malone. Yes I felt for both fighters. Molinares, because it must be tough going home to your family a champion and a little bit later getting a phone call telling you aren't. Starling seemed a humble and respectable champ and seeing him out of it like that was strange. I do think he went on after this to prove this was a fluke.

Starling imo, is up there, with the greatest welters of the last 30 years..

Barring a split second of controversy, what Molinares did was monumental!

yeah i totally agree that he is one of the best welters in recent times,, I wouldnt have him higher than SRL, hearns, curry, tito, oscar, pernell, forrest, but he would surely be top 15 or so, and really would have had a much better career had he been around now,,, especially considering guys like berto, alexander, ortiz, ghost, maidana, broner, pauli, etc are the top welters,,,

i think starling would lose to floyd and manny,,, him and bradley would be a toss up, with starling being a slight favorite

SRL and Hearns, but the others are even money imo
With the exception of PBF and maybe pacquiao and bradley, todays fighters don't compare.
