Whenever a referee gets suspended for disgraceful refereeing, such as the one you mentioned, I'm always annoyed that the corner often takes nearly no blame. If a ref is ever suspended, I think the trainer/head cornerman of the knocked out fighter should be suspended too. Both have the responsibility to protect their charge, but the ref is the guy that only ever gets it....deservedly so mind you, but some of the blame should lie with the corner too.

Idly watching their fighter get nearly killed, while the ref does nothing, is not what fighters need. It's bad enough having an incompetent ref, but doubly so with an incompetent corner with no empathy or compassion for their fighter.

Hearns Andries.... Not a brutal ko, but a brutal beating.

Looked like a man on motorized roller blades mugging a drunk in leg irons.

            Duran Lampkin
excellent fight with Ray giving Duran a good go. On left hook ended it put Ray in the hospital and he did not fight or walk for months. This is the fight where Duran had the famous
Saying in the post fight interview "next time I will send him to the morgue" although he did visit him in the hospital.

Well Lampkin did go to the hospital, but I'm pretty sure he walked out of there. He was back in the ring about 7 months later.

Does anyone more than I see that it is almost identical to a more recent knockout?

Villaflor was a friggin' tank! :ibutt:
I bet you will like this one then.
