What I have a "thing" for are ******s like you who spout pseudo-intellectual bull**** that has no bearing on the real world. I also have a "thing" for ******s like you who spout the bull**** ideology that every generation is exponentially "superior" to the all previous generations.

I also have a "thing" for ****tards like you who are full of their own self-importance who look down their noses at those "inferior old dudes" from previous generations.

Seriously dude: Grow the **** up and get the **** over yourself. Your generation isn't any better than any that have come before. People of your ideological ilk have no business in the History Section stealing oxygen from others. Quite frankly you'd be doing the world a favor if the next time you pull Occam's Razor out of your ass you'd use it to slit your wrists.

You have said the first part before, you made as little sense then as you do now. Every other sport has improved with perhaps no exception over a period of decades so it is really funny that boxing is supposed to be this one exception where it has actually declined. There is no evidence for this supposed decline, the video footage does not show it to my eyes although it seems to to yours.

I think it is you that is experiencing the inferiority, it is in your own head that i'm lording it over you and older people. It is a bit rich being told to grow up by a 45 year old man whose idea of argument on an internet forum is to call someone names and then tell them that they should commit suicide. There is really something wrong with you.

^^^^^ More drivel. And btw, it's not a given that every other sport has "improved". You ASSUME it's improved because of your ******ed world view that convinces you that anything that is "different" from today is ipso facto "inferior" to today.

        Now get bent ******.

Other sports have improved, there really is no denying that. I don't think everything of today is better than the past, far from it, my record collection would suitably disprove that.

I like most of the replies given thus far, lots of interesting things said (lets try to keep it civil, though, gentlemen).

I'm not sure if someone had already previously mentioned this and I missed the post, but; if he never won a championship, do most place him I'm their top five because he defeated many future champs or former champs?

A gentlemen's agreement. I think Sam would have appreciated that

It must have taken every last IQ point he has to come up with such a sophisticated solution to such a pressing and urgent problem.
Well I can't speak for everyone but it has troubled me trying to find a solution to this conondrum.

Boxing is different than other sports because it is a hybrid sport. It is partially combat and partially sport. Rather than cite any arguments to that effect of which there are plenty of opinions, its just worth noting that there are some differences.

Also, as stated in the other thread there are many very technically brilliant trainers of yore who continued an unbroken line of succession in the gyms. These trainers had a lot of information and a great point of comparison and it would seem that out of this group a lot of opinions suggest boxing has not evolved.

American boxing is hardly an anomolie in this respect...IF we consider it combat related. The Samurai culture of Japan had/has Martial Arts literacy and documented various successes, failures, changes etc in their Ko-Ryu systems.

So while there may be many biased and uninformed opinions around, there are also a lot of credible people who suggest the talent of fighters from different eras. Finally, this is not atypical when we look at boxing as a set of combative skills as opposed to a mere sport.

It's summed up in my motto: "I don't suffer fools gladly.....I don't suffer them at all." :cool9:

Where is your evidence that all other sports have improved?
