I disagree on criminality but probably should have switched him out with someone like Marcel. Once to ballot is mailed, I often debate again in my head all year. It doesn't matter insomuch as The three first year guys are all going in easy this year. I don't think I voted for anyone who doesn't belong. I've waffled on King in the past. Some great wins, bad losses, and a little home cooking along the way. He belongs in; should have been in years ago and well before someone like Johnson.

Acavallo, Ebihara, and Laciar should all be inducted eventually as well IMO

All three title wins were debatable splits at home. The Perez rematch was his best win; that's great stuff. All those fights were close either way and those were bad asses.

Like I said, I've voted for him in the past. I was fine voting for all three first ballot guys so it crowded my voting. I didn't vote for any first year guys last time and Kingpetch got a check. Might have whiffed not voting for him this year; I could switch out a few guys like Marcel, Gushiken even who I think is overdue. I'll vote for him again in the future. I like Gonzalez and Ohba as much as him for my ballot.

I said a 'little' home cooking. There were some who thought both Ebihara and Harada II were terrible decisions; I don't. Being at home helps in those calls. I used that word for a reason.

He should have been in years ago. Quite a few should. That's why we put together fact sheets now and stuff for the BWAA voters. I was big on Marshall for a long time and have been openly campaigning for Jeffra. Hopefully it pays off for him eventually. Chang and Yuh getting in recently was a good sign and there could be some more hollow years like last year where some of the lingering can get over.

Again, it doesn't matter this year. 2013 is a forgone conclusion.

Why would he be a tough out for anyone? There are many fighters in history who would destroy Kessler with no problems, I don't see how beating him in a competitive fight makes you difficult for anyone, there are so many levels above Kessler and even more above Lacy.

You're making these comments as if they were facts. Who else would beat Kessler is irrelevant. I've seen Calzaghe fight and think he'd be difficult to beat. Not unbeatable, just a tough fight. That's my opinion and you're welcome to yours.

I and many others felt he lost the Reid fight, he say's his hand was injured (Convenient), against Mitchell he was dropped and looked average at best against a fringe contender.

Hopkins was still good despite well passed his best, there's no shame in struggling with him. Perhaps a little bit of shame being legitimately dropped by him though. It was a close fight and again there's no shame in that but he really looked awful in that fight.

I don't see what's impressive about the Lacy fight. It was just as easy to crap on that fight before it as it was after it. It's decent at very best. Lacy is terrible and that was clear to see before the Calzaghe fight when he was struggling badly with fringe contenders.

The only win he has a over a prime, top solid fighter is Kessler and let's face it Kessler is a good fighter but it's hardly that impressive in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think Calzaghe did anything to show he'd be a tough out for anyone. Struggling badly with a 46 year old Hopkins doesn't tell me that.

He's so far from being an ATG it's ridiculous and when he get's inducted to the HOF he'll be amongst the weakest members in there.

The fact is that Lacy was a slight betting favorite even though the fight was in the UK. That indicates that many people who bet seriously thought Lacy was the real thing. I remember very well many in boxing were picking Lacy to win. At that time it was a significant win. Like I said, it is easy to crap on someone in retrospect. At that time Lacy was the guy people wanted Calzaghe to fight.

Arthur Abraham was supposed to kill Carl Froch. Was a wider betting favourite than Lacy and was picked by just as many on the forums. Froch won every round. But how good is that win really? It's still Arthur Abraham at the end of the day (Who is also a lot better than Lacy was, by the way)

The fact of the matter is, Lacy really is awful. Anyone who saw his fights knew he was awful. He only ever looked impressive against bums.

He's gone on to further prove that fact. I don't think he should get a whole load of credit for that wins solely because he was once a hype job.

It's a significant win, sure. It's one of 3 wins Calzaghe has over a top 5 ranked opponent in his division so it's a significant win and one of his best wins. Which speaks absolute volumes.

The thing is, I don't see how that can be said when he's not proven it. There were times where he looked utterly beatable against the level he was fighting let alone ATG levels.

A 44 year old Hopkins almost beat him and dropped him with a single punch. I find it highly doubtful that he'd be difficult to beat against all time great oppostion and that's at 160-168 alone.

Not even going to even bother going into 175.

People thinking someone is a top fighter doesn't make them a top fighter. What they do in the ring makes them a top fighter. Its just irrelevant, a fighter can recieve backing and hype for reasons other than their actual quality as a fighter but it is only the quality that matters.
