Buster was a big boy also! Long reach and all. I swear I will always remember that fight...I was in grad school and decided on a lark to go down to the Haight (the 'rockin robin sports bar) and watch it....you could do that at the time. I thought I would have a pint and a walk and be back to schoolwork in a short time....WoW! am I glad I watched that fight.

Ray, you are the man about the reality of Buster's chances. But the mood that night? and the feelings about the invinvibility of Tyson at the time? that fight was a transformative and bonding experience.... The rockin robin is long gone but I still remember the tree black guys and the doorman I was near (used to watch the Mexican fighters in the Mexican bars haha). None of us could believe it as the fight progressed, we kept thinking....Mike will get him. Then like all of sudden we all seemed to have the same realization (just before Douglas beat the count). We all seemed to realize how well Buster was using his jab and movement. He looked like Ali with orthodix movement that night! Never had we seen a jab stop Tyson coming fowards.

We all cheered til horse. Even the Tyson fans realized we had watched a remarkable achievement.

        Foreman v Moorer for me.

An ageing, flabby T-Rex from another boxing era, who was already a clear loser against Holyfield and who had struggled against the game but pretty unexceptional Alex Stewart and also coming off a loss to Tommy Morrison suddenly finds a flurry of brutal punches from his long-lost prime and is HW champion again.

George was taking a nasty beating that night - check out his face - and this really was the last throw of the dice having lost to Morrison. But suddenly, unexpectedly and brilliantly he puts Moorer into a deep, deep sleep.

Douglas v Tyson was seen as a routine defence with a predicatable outcome in Tyson's favour. But Foreman's challenge was widely seen as being unworthy, not credible and even demeaning the HW title. Lots of commentators called it a cynical, payday marketing fight.

Admittedly, Douglas beat the superior man. But Foreman was the amusing sidewshow act who took the title.
