I mentioned that theres two colors in boxing that matter Green & Red they go together often!! You pay for both if your a real fighter!
On this forum lately and far to often theres another color that needs mentioning and its Brown for the all the "****heads" that stir the pot but add nothing to the forums inner soul!
degrading a mans reputation as a man when their not here and often have passed on is a cowards way of drawing attention to himself!
None of the new clowns who continuely disgrace the memories of hard working people would get near a ring, its obvious!!!
It must be lonely living in fear of being a man because only fearfull people strike out at others who can't defend themselves!!!
Likes & dislikes make our world go round but degrading and dismissing stems from fearfull cowards! Go away!!! Ray

as far as quarry's loses go I would not call them disgracfull loses not most any how I have never seen the Machen fight but Ali 1 he could not get inside and the fight was stopped for a nasty cut over his left eye Ali 2 he went after Ali trying to get inside and went out on his feet but the fight was rightfully stopped if I remember right both Fraiser fights were stopped on cuts I never saw the fight with Norton as far as the chuvalo fight he was winning just about every round was knocked down in the seventh got right up but went back down to a knee waited till 9 got up but the ref said it was to late BS he would of won that one

“As Mac Foster walked to the ring that night there was a hush in the Madison Square Garden. This would be the first New York appearance for Mac, and his reputation preceded him. Twenty-four fights, twenty-four knockouts. He had beaten everyone in his path with a swiftness that could only be called shocking.

Foster was a 6-1 favorite, and Sonny Liston was so sure that Mac was going to win that he bet his whole purse of his victory over Chuck Wepner. Foster was a wrecking ball, and nobody said Quarry didn't get hit. Sure, Quarry had a good chin, but there was no way he would last with a destroyer like Foster- that was the common thought by those in the know.

There was no quit in Quarry that night or any night. Some of the punches Foster landed would have had almost any man looking up from the canvas. With Gil Clancy in his corner that night, he started the fight a world beater, but after throwing his best shots and seeing the other man still standing, Mac Foster became confused and was never the same fighter again.” cyberboxingzone

that mac foster fight above really showcases the chin of quarry and also like in his fight with shavers his good finishing ability when he got someone in trouble he would jump on them in a controled fashion with a patients you just don't see anymore he stays under control and does not punch himself out like every fighter I have seen in the last 20 years does. He shows great patients and poise while finishing stays within himself and paces his attack while keeping the opponent in trouble you never see that kind of poise in the heavyweights any more another thing to all the modern nuthuggers if you notice the weights 210lbs foster and 196lbs quarry well trained almost all of these modern studs that you talk about being to big for these guys 240-250lbs they mostly have soft bodys and fat stomachs that is where your 30-40lbs is and does not make them bigger it makes them FATTER and by no means tougher faster stronger or make them hit harder or give them more stamina none of the above in fact it makes them slower and gives them less stamina so Quarry would be a Cruiser weight today but here he beat an undefeated Heavy weight with a 100% KO rate and so he would be a cruiser weight today well kind of because he would also be a world champion today I do not know of a single cruiser weight today that could beat him
thanks ben bolt for putting the fight here for Tommo and Spam and all the other modern Flab Junkies on here to see not like they will watch it though to bad they might actually learn something

Awesome post! Thanks. I just finished reading a really good bio of Liston and that story about him betting on Foster was confirmed. Foster was a red hot prospect and one win away from a title shot. Quarry pretty much derailed him. Every one of Foster's career wins was a KO, and the only KO loss he ever had was Quarry.

Just wanted to thank Big Ben Bolt for the excellent example of Quarry's caliber.

                Props.

Jerry Quarry was a hell of a fighter. That boy had no quit in him. He was small, but made up for it by being tough as nails and having an iron jaw.

                  Great fighter.

Oh yeah...I don't get why people like spam don't get banned. Just blatant racism and trolling. It should not be tolerated.

I don't get it either, frankly, unless the supposed policies of the site are just bluffs to hopefully keep most people in line. "MAKING MONEY" is another poster who has also said things that any white person would be castigated for saying in the reverse direction. Double standard.
