Are long arms an advantage in boxing?

Lots of people seem to think so lately im not sure if this is a popular dumb myth or reality.

I mean arnt long arms an advantage at long range and a disadvantage at close range and vice versa for short arms?

Or does the advantage of having long arms outweight the advantages of having short arms overall?

What about hieght, is it better to be tall or short and why?

Would you rather be tall with long arms or short with long arms and why?

I don't think height plays in as much as it appears, but reach certainly does. Though if the fighter is slow and plodding, long arms may not be as big of an advantage.

tall fighters with long arms and a reach advantage have all the advantages on their side. Especially if they can move and have a good jab. They can win a fight with a jab and footwork alone. The jab of the guy with longer reach connects first.
The short guys with short arms have to have good defence and sharp reflexes to get on the inside (prime Tyson for example).

Height can be neutralized so can arm legth bending at the waist will make the tall fighter punch down leave holes in their defense it can also cause them to start bending at the waist some to connect easier but that only works if you have great reflexes. A good example of long arms causing problems would be srl vs hearns. Hearns gave up his height and reach trading sometimes tho.

if skill is equal the height and reach matter,,, but if skill isnt equal like floyd vs corrales, then reach and height are meaningless,,,

I was under the erroneous impression that everyone understood that I was referring to any given match within the same weight class. I obviously overestimated the intelligence of the forum community.

But yes height and reach can be overcome,, but i still think it matters if everything else is equal,,,,,, Like if both guys are p4p guys,, reach and height can prove to be the dfference maker,, ala shane vs winky and forrest..
Yes it can be overcome if the taller more lanky fighter isnt as good skillwise as the smaller guy,, ala floyd vs corrales,,,
