If JMM were to have faced Castillo in his first at 135 I think he would've lost but if had a fight or two and got acclimated to the weight I think it would be a even fight. Castillo had a great chin but Marquez is a great body puncher and very accurate. I think he would be able to get Castillo's respect at least. Marquez has always done well against pressure fighters. The problem for Marquez is he usually takes a little time to adjust and gives early rounds away. That's what has made so many of his fights so close on the cards.
    No he didn't

Yeah he did you should rewatch the fight. At the time of the stoppage JMM was ahead on one of the score cards and even 95-95 on the other two cards. No one ever looked good against Casamayor even when they beat him, he was a crafty veteran southpaw. Casamayor has a tricky style could make fights ugly, it took a while before Marquez was able to adjust to his style.

It was an evenly matched fight that Marquez won late. That isn't struggling.

Unlike a diaz or katsidis, JLC would be able to walk thru jmm's shots,,,, Still would be a very close and entertaining fight, but i think JLC style would cause problems just like manny and his great chin caused jmm problems,,,
Jmm would def land alot on JLC, i just dont see him hurting him, and making him slow down
I think it was his speed, power and combinations more than his chin, don't you? Marquez didn't find Pacs chin to be much of a problem at all. He hit it a lot. It was getting hit back that seemed to be the trouble.

As to the thread, it's a hard fight. I think Marquez would do better against Castillo's style than the other way around, but Castillo has the obvious size advantage and his best years were at 135 while Marquez' were at 126. I think I may still just take Marquez in a fight that could have gone either way....though historically that has usually meant Marquez would lose it.

If Castillo makes weight I think Marquez gives him fits for 12 rounds.

I still disagree. Casamayor gave Marquez a lot if problems. If your even going into the 11th round that means you are/were struggling to execute your game plan. Besides his fight with Floyd no one ever gave JMM as much problems as Casamayor did.

Although Jmm did ko Casamayor i do aggree he was giving Jmm a tough fight kind of like a fast chess match.

Pacquiao gave Marquez more problems the time he dropped him three times in one round. All the Pacquaio fights were tougher than Casamayor.

I think the guy who is most recent on people's minds has the advantage in questions/polls of this kind. There are some young bucks on here who probably never even saw JLC fight.

To clear up the casamoyer-jmm fight,,,

that was a dead even fight until jmm pulled away late,,, JMM wasnt struggling but he wasnt shining bright either,,,
Barrera also had his moments vs jmm....
JLC isnt the technician that those 2 guys are, but he had a much better chin, little more power, great puncher on the inside, and had an underrated defense,, he could slip some punches unlike a margarito or mayorga...
