I never watched it live,, but when i did see it, i thought ramirez had done enough to win,,, I thought he landed cleanly on pernell, especially later rounds, I thought pernell was alittle green and it showed in the fight,,,,

I will have to rewatch it, but i never thought it was a robbery

It was the worst robbery I've ever seen in a live title fight. And that isn't hyperbole. I was shocked when Ramirez got the decision. No way he won more rounds than Whitaker.

I watched it again, only rounds 8-12,,,,

I have only seen it in its entirety about 5-6 years ago when it was aired on espn classic..

I still dont think its a huge robbery,,, Both guys were landing,, ramirez looked good, so did pernell,,, Some rounds were very hard to judge,,,,

I dont think its one of the top 5 robberies of all time,,, i thought manny-bradley was a robbery,,
            This, not so much

I still think that pernell was alittle green when dealing with the pressure of ramirez,, he didnt neutralize it as well as he does later in his career,, I really think it was a learning experience for pernell,, with that said,, pernell still performed very well,, I just dont think it was a huge robbery,,,, Just a tough fight to judge,,

absolute robbery!!!!!!!!!! 10 rds to 2 in favor of Whitaker. 8 to 4, if you're being kind to Ramirez. Even the pro Mexican scumbag Jose Suliaman said he scored it 8-4 for Whitaker and that should tell you something

I scored it recently as 115-113 Whitaker. Close on my scorecard but it was still a clear Whitaker win. Ramirez only clearly won one of the rounds, the other 4 rounds I gave him were close rounds, rounds that could conceivably be given to Whitaker. Five of the seven rounds I gave Whitaker were clear Whitaker rounds, including the first three rounds which were a boxing lesson.

Robbery. I sure would like to know what rounds some people were giving to Ramirez to make it "close." If one fighter is landing and the other is missing it's not difficult to score.

                    ------R----W
1-----9---10-----w dominant, great use of jab, boxing lesson
2-----9---10-----ditto, also landing straight left crosses
3-----9---10-----w dominant, more exchange. W too fast
4-----9---10-----closer, w just edged it though
                    5-----9---10-----ditto
6-----10---9-----felt that ramirez may have edged this one
                    7-----10---9-----similar to previous
                    8-----10---9-----definitely r's round
9-----9---10-----w widens gap again and boxes better
10----10---9-----w with volume, r with harder shots
11----10---9-----very close, pretty much ditto of prev
12----9---10-----close but w gets the better
                    -----113---115
