This is Barrera at 18, his 21st fight and first in the US. I was there that night and he was good.

Absolutely they are. Both are top 10 Mexican fighters too. Morales may well be a top 5 Mexican fighter.

The top 10 of the 2000 boxers for me are

Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Morales, Lennox lewis, Cotto, Marquez, Barrera, and maybe Wladmir or Winky wright

I scored all 3 Barrera-Morales fights for Barrera. On the other hand, Junior Jones beat Barrera twice while Morales beat him.
I personally always thought Barrera is better than Morales, but no disrespect to him.
2 of the best mexican fighters of all time.

I thought Barrera was 2-1. Morales also has the big Pacquiao win as well as the Junior Jones win.

          Both easy ATGs though.

I watched both of them very early in their careers.

I thought Barrera won the first fight and Morales won the second but in both matches the other guy got the decision.
