    sam langford

    edwin valero

    sugar ray robinson

    jack johnson

    carlos monzon

    jack dempsey

movies about these fighters would all be very entertaining, interesting and compelling. i imagine most would be very inspirational too with great potential for commentary/insight on the human condition/spirit.

Yeah but I don't know how inspirational all that spousal abuse would be with movies about Robinson or Valero.

lol yeah. As I said, most.

I imagine a Valero film would be somewhat analogous to Raging Bull; looking at the dangers of rage and self destructiveness. I could also see it touching on substance abuse and mental health.
Carlos Monzon's wouldn't be much of a heart warming story either.

I think Langford, Johnson and Dempsey films have the potential to be truly epic. A Joe Louis flick is one I forgot that would also be great to see. The upcoming Duran film is also one I'm definitely looking forward to.

Just checked IMDB (Internet Movie Database) for the production progress of "Hands of Stone" only to discover that the original actor to play Duran has been replaced by someone named Edgar Ramirez from Venezuela, a physical improvement.

Not only that, the original fellow to play Carlos Eleta (Duran's Manager/sponsor) has been replaced by non-other than Panamanian singer-actor Ruben Blades. To date (that I know of), that's the third actor replacement since this project was conceived (lest we forget, DeNiro for Pacino was first).

If this revolving door of a movie is ever completed, I'd very surprised; even more so if it's not a total train wreck.

Was'nt there supposed to be a movie about Vinny Paz??

Last time i heard, it was due for release sometime in 2011.

Have i missed it, or did nothing ever come of it?

Google-search "Vinny Pazienza movie" and find-out.

First thing i did, but the reports seem out-dated to me.. Sometime in 2011 is all i could find.. I also checked Pazienza's website, and there's a brief mention about Martin Scorcese wanting to do it asap this year, but that's all it says..

Gathering from the 2011 reports the film appears to have fallen through over something to do with actors, James and Scott Caan having to pull out.. Goes on to say about Peter Facinelli replacing the younger Caan, to play Paz, but that's about it really.. Sure if Scorcese really is getting involved, we'll hear something fairly soon.

They dealt with spousal abuse in Raging Bull. Eddie Murphy was to have the rights to a movie on Robinson.
