If you accept his birthday as being in 1916, as boxrec does, he was 46. I have also seen his birthday listed as 1913, which would have made him 49.

For what it's worth, 46 seconds into the video (see post #8) and after the bell sounds for round 1, the announcer mentions Archie's age of 43.
