  • Who would have been most likely to beat a prime Roy Jones Jr

    At Roys best weight!?

Would any fighter in history be more likely to beat Roy than the other way around?

What about Tommy the hitman Hearns?

Nobody would be more likely. Roy is the likely winner in any historic matchup.

Nobody beats prime Roy. Michael Spinks at light heavy would probably have the best shot.

At 175 I'd give Spinks and Foster a great chance. I'm not as optimistic for anyone at 168.

roy is #1 at 168, its a very weak division historically but still. there are plenty of ppl who beat him at 160 and 175 though.

foster, spinks and charles beat him for sure. perhaps walcott, moore and saad muhammad too.

at 160 hagler, hearns and robinson beat him. perhaps monzon, leonard, nunn and mclellan too.

IMO Roy's best weight was 168. I'd be very comfortable picking Ezzard Charles over him there.

At middleweight and light heavy there are several I'd pick. Monzon, Robinson, Hagler at 160; Charles, Moore, Spinks, and Foster at at 175. If Greb was as good as his resume indicates, I'd take him too.

I do not get the unbeatable tag that Jones seems to carry on this site.

              Really!!!!
              175lbs LtHvy

              Ezzard Charles
              Mike Spinks
              Bob Foster
              Bob Fitzsimmons
              Tommy Loughron
              Billy Conn
              Gus Levinsky
              Willie Pastrano
              Archie Moore
              Harold johnson
              Antonio Tarver
              Glen Johnson

              160+
              Stanley Ketchel
              Harry Greb
              Tiger Flowers
              Sugar Ray Robinson
              Tony Zale
              Marcel Cerdan
              Jake Lomatta
              Nino Benevenuti
              Carlos Monzon
              Jermain Taylor
              Marvin Hagler
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''theres a few more but this group is capable, I can think of some ruff house guys at 175 that would give Roy a real tuff fight. They'd have less chance to beat him then the ones listed but he'd have no cake walk with Saad, Mustafa, Galendez, Qwawi (Braxton) etc these were tuff men to fight, no taking time off! I recognize Roys skills but he has faults like everyone else! Ray

Billy Conn would have beaten him, Ezzard Charles...not to mention guys like eddie booker or jack chase, or even shorty hogue.

Pastrano was ridiculous. And I'll add Benvenuti to your list. He was a nice fighter, but even a young RJ would have squashed him.
