    Six Weeks

James Toney was correctly the fighter of the year in 1991. He fought 6 times and you all know the names involved...

One thing which did not maybe seem so incredible at the time but completely unheard of in this millennium, is that he had his first defense against Reggie Johnson (not exactly padding...) 6 weeks after winning his first title against Nunn...

any similar examples in the last 20 years?

Leo Santa Cruz made 2 title defences 5 weeks apart towards the end of 2012.

      Chavez in 1992.

6 fights including Mitchell on Aug. 1 and Camacho sep. 12.

Technically it's more than 20 years ago, but close.

I say it definitely counts, but Clegg beat us big time.

Chico Corrales took Robert Garcia's title away from him at the end of October 1999 and then defended it the first week of December against John Brown.
