How good were the curry brothers?

I've said it many times before.....the '84-'86 Donald Curry was the best fighter I've ever seen. I thought during that time he was perfect. Of course he wasn't actually perfect, as he seemed to unravel and eventually went south.

For what its worth Bruce Curry bounced benitez off the canvas multiple times in their first fight and definitely deserved the decision. But yeah, although he was a solid fighter and a good puncher, especially with the left hook, it was his younger brother Donald who was the pick of the two. He had plenty of skills, speed power boxing skills and a good jab. He just never quite made it to atg status unfortunately

Yeah, the first Curry/Benitez fight was a travesty. Curry definitely won it.

Donald did look very special for a brief time before Honeyghan, but I think it just a fighter like him, McCallum, etc to bring out the faults that were there but just didn't show up against lesser guys, or different styles.

As great as I think McCallum was, I think had Curry not fallen off dramatically like he did after the Honeyghan debacle...he'd have beaten McCallum. Let's not forget how Curry completely destroyed a much better Milt McCrory than the one McCallum took ten rounds to take apart (I know- could have been a style issue), and most importantly how he twice defeated Marlon Starling. Starling was terrific and incredibly difficult and Curry solved him and showed he was superior.
