      Your point is valid.

But is it all we do, judge fighters resumes? Can't we embrace what they brought to the fight game? Shouldn't discussion be more than endless evaluations and judgement of greatness. That's great too but not when it's the only thing we do.

My earlier post made no mention of Graziano as an all time great. Yet your immediate reply was to list all the fighters Graziano ducked as though this was relevant to my posts. As if there was some important need that everyone know Graziano wasn't an ATG. This forum seems stuck in a boxed-in thought-chain it can't escape.

The Graziano-Zale fights ('46-'48) excited the post-war fight community to such an extent that they helped launch boxing's domination of 1950s TV. Those fights out drew Joe Louis' fights. Isn't that an interesting topic to discuss?

The fights themselves are never discussed; the politics of the game itself get little discussion unless it's about the 'Color Line.'

My posts tried to examine the political, economic, and social impact on the game; the impact on the fighters it forced out or made wait too long; on how the money moved the issue, and how the fights re-ingnited excitement into the post-war boxing world.

All I got back was a list of who Graziano ducked. All the other issues you just brushed off with a 'yea we know' and then made a long list.

At least you replied, (thank you) otherwise it went completely unnoticed.

Yes your point is absolutely valid no disagreement, but there is so much more to Rocky Graziano and his historical impact on boxing than just his resume or who he ducked.

        You referred to his greatness.

        "You're missing his greatness;"

I don't see it,I see a cherry picker who got 2 shots at a title he didn't deserve.
        So much more to him?
Well he was a guy whose career was founded on beating welterweights ,a draft dodger who was mob connected.

I spoke my piece on behalf of the deserving challengers such as Holman Williams, and Charley Burley, who got elbowed aside because money talks louder than principle and always has.

You don't like my content that's fine, perhaps I see things a bit differently than you?
Perhaps I'm a bit more parsimonious about bestowing the word greatness on someone?
Was Graziano in exciting fights ?
        Yes!
Were Gatti, Ward,Galento, in exciting fights?
        Yes!
        Were they great fighters ?
        No! imo
