Is it true one judge scored most of the rounds even and gave Duran maybe 3 of the last 5 rounds or is this another boxing myth, like the supposed round Willie Pep won without throwing a punch?

Yeah, I always thought so too. 3 points at least for me. Leonard sweeping all of the last rounds is BS. He clearly loses 13 from memory and maybe 12 too. Would need to double check, but I remember he certainly lost a couple of those latter rounds.

It still seemed to me that they were desperately trying not to give the fight to Duran. The amount of even rounds was utterly absurd and it seemed as though they were trying to hold back giving Duran too many after his early domination which would have been too scandalous if they didn't give him those early rounds. From round 5 to the end though, all three judges combined only gave Duran 6 more rounds. That is just crazy. 30 rounds and Duran only got 6? Give me a break!

Does Roberto seem out of it in that interview? Hungover or something. You can already see the double chin from all the weight put on! Fat, lazy bastard.

I think it was scored correctly. Most people never was used to seeing ray on the ropes fighting. Yes duran came out smoking had him winning the 1st 3 of 4. The first round was a toss up. 2-4 clearly furans. next two Rays.. then they went back and forth. I think duran deserved the fight as he was the aggressor and was taking it to ray. But Ray clealry held his own and in many rounds landed the harder more effective shots. But he was fighting with his back on the ropes, and through the fight Duran landed the harder shots, hurt ray, and was the aggressor. Effective aggressor

To me it was Rays best fight! He learned how to take a good shot and rebound! He also learned that his shots got him respect from a seasoned pro. He fought and boxed his ass off that night and ofcourse most if not all will only see a loss but losses at the hands of a great fighter when you give everything you have is just a loss, not a defeat!! That fight set Ray up to perform at a high level for quite a few years. Up till then Ray fought no one near Durans experience! Ray

I actually had the fight 7 – 6 – 2 Leonard (144 – 143). Not mad though, don't really like Leonard at all. Duran gave the fight away in the last 2 rounds. If he tried to win them, he probably could have.

Couldn't agree more... I had Leonard winning most of the late rounds, but overall I gave Duran the majority of the middle/late-middle rounds.

Would have to find my scorecard to see exactly how I scored it, but Duran deserved to win this fight.
