    And from that derives the enduring problem of the linear champion. Some think it really belongs to the man who beat the man who beat the man, some believe that a retirement of some description prompts a genuine restart.

    Just a thought, when did Jack Johnson become linear champion.....when he beat Burns or when he beat the comebacking Jeffries? Was Marvin Hart ever really a linear champion after Jeffries's retirement?

    If Lennox Lewis made a comeback this year and.....just for example got beat by Tyson Fury or David Price, would they become the linear champion?

    Too many definitions and interpretations of the term.

      So if Ali never returned, would the Lineage be lost in time?

      Does the Lineage end for eternity if the Lineal Champion retires undefeated?
