What boxer has the best combination of a jab,a straight, and a overhand right?
best combination of punches

I think the best combination is an uppercut, left hook. The uppercut pushes the chin directly into the path of the hook. Also the double hook. first to body then to the head. very useful in many situations. -
It can be a good sequence (I have seen Hopkins, Mayweather and Toney timing their opponents with differently angled right hands) but throwing an actual combo with an overhand right after a straight right seems... weird? where you gonna get the leverage for the overhand from?Comment

Arguello is one of them. He didn't possess great handspeed or reflexes, he just made them work.
The combination referred to in the first post doesn't sound too effective. There have been times though when fighters have followed up a regular 1-2 with looping over hand rights in order to put away a hurt opponent.
Here's Ray Leonard pouring it on poor Pete Ranzany:

That is a terrible ineffective and combination that is not really easy to pull off, but it sounds like something Saad Muhammad could do.

Not to mention you can bait and counter after the 1-2.
I would use Jab uppercut, right straight into left hook but I mean it's what you're good at. Boxing isn't all X's O's. It's constantly adapting throughout a fight.Last edited by Japanese Boxing; 08-06-2012, 05:45 PM.Comment
