Sugar Ray Robinson Vs Southpaws

I don't know why but I kinda find southpaws a difficult watch. Unless, you're Prince Naseem Hamed...

Joe Curcio was a southpaw with a respectable record.
Robinson knocked him out at the end of the first round and in those days you could be saved by the bell. Curcio was still out cold when the bell went for the second round and was counted out by the referee.

My God! Did this fight take place when Robinson was a Welterweight? and how could it possible be that his corner where unable to revive him for the second round?. Ray Robinson truly had frightening power.Originally posted by TheGreatA View PostJoe Curcio was a southpaw with a respectable record.

There was some controversy over it, although seemingly without merit:

Thanks Great A it seems the crowd thought it landed after the bell but the last newspaper reports suggest that it landed right on the bell, lol Robinson hit so hard they were putting him in the same sentence as Louis. I think Robinson is the hardest hitting Welterweight of all time, if only we could get footage.Originally posted by TheGreatA View PostNews articles:

Wow, great story, never knew that. I'll keep Joe Curcio in mind whenever Mayweather nuthuggers try to claim Floyd as the greatest ever. Damn Robinson haters.
