    I don't think he underestimated Duran totally, but he shouldn't have come into the fight less than 100% like he did.It ruined his career, though I think someone like McCallum would always give him problems.He could've beaten Ayala, though.

        Davey had oral surgery 3 days before the fight, and had to get bone splinters removed from his jaw, from which two teeth had been knocked out.

          Previous to the Moore fight, when Duran challenged Benitez, Sugar Ray L. was doing the commentary and kept pointing out that 154 was too heavy for Duran and he will never be force above welterweight. A win over a fading Cuevas probably was not enough to prove him wrong. Seems to me when Duran challenged Moore, alot of us were actually concerned about Duran getting hurt. But I must say Duran had a way of proving people wrong in big fights. I mean who would have thought he would have put up such a fight against Hagler. I had been a extreme fan for years by the time that fight happened and I was still completely suprised by how that one played out!
