  • Wlad Klitschko and the Tyson effect

Was watching some of wladdys older fights and it seems to me that the fighters that won or had success in losing against him were the ones who weren't afraid of him.(typically) This was exactly true of Tyson. A lot of these guys lost to both before the first bell ever rang. So my question is this, is coming after klits like gangbusters the way to beat him? And do u think intimidation plays a major part in his wins? Thoughts please.

IMO Wlad and Tyson are really nothing alike. Wlad's not an intimidator who runs out of his corner to drive you into the canvas. He has good skills and knows how to keep a guy at bay and protect his chin. The trick to beating him is to find a way to get lucky enough to land a good bomb on it. I think thats the key.

Wladimir may not be a staredom king like Liston or Tyson, or the smack talker that James Toney was. But when you are facing up to a guy who is a very fit 6'6, 240 and has 50 KO's, more often than not you're going to be intimidated.

The size is a factor but Wladimir also has real KO power and his jab is very hard. I think after some opponents feel the power, knowing how big he is can change everything. Going after him requires a solid chin and durability.

That's a damn good way to put it.

Wlad has power, but lacks Tyson's aura, combo attacks, power and speed. Wlad is a poor Lennox Lewis.
