  • Conditioning training now and then

What has changed in terms of training that a boxer 40 years ago was able to go 15 rounds without feeling any major fatigue whereas today, boxers are having trouble to go the full 12?

What is so different in terms of the training

Too much 'cross-training'. There is a common misconception that if you are in shape to run real fast or real far, or jump real high, etc... that you are also in shape to fight and that is not true. None of these so-called conditioning experts knows anything about boxing, which is unlike any other thing.

It's all that evolution of training techniques and nutrition.

well for 1 your statement is untrue. They got deathly tired often enough, just look a Jammotta vs Robinson, his hands were nearly as his sides.

            BUT

They did often work harder and threw a lot more and were willing to trade more, which sucks a lot of stamina up. people back then just worked harder in general.

I'd still say they had better stamina and skills back then, but nowadays defense is improved and perhaps speed.

You are always going to have your high stamina fighters and lower stamina fighters.
