Isn't it depressing there was never a Holmes-Foreman bout?

The closest comparison that I can think of to how a prime Foreman vs prime Holmes might look, is simply to watch Foreman fight Jimmy Young.

Obviously there are plenty of differences between Young and Holmes. But Jimmy was a good, mobile, slick, orthodox technician who took Foreman's power and managed to nick a close fight.

It would have been depressing if it happened in 1999 when they were talking about it.

Not really. Had one of them defeated Holyfield for the title, it woulda been a huge event. I remember that's what was being played up when Holmes fought Holyfield. But without the title at stake, I don't think there was any need for that fight to take place. Interesting to think about, but not necessary. I think Holmes would always beat Foreman, prime and post prime. The big HW misses at the time were Holyfield-Tyson and Bowe-Lewis.

It's kinda funny because it very well should have happened at leasr in the '90's but for whatever reason it didn't. I suppose it would've been a stylistic nightmare for Foreman as Larry would move a lot and use his jab to offset him...

I think if you stuck old foreman's head on young foreman's body you'd have the ultimate fighter, but otherwise I think holmes would have the edge - I don't think george ever wanted the fight

When Foreman regain the title at age 45, he defended it against Axel Schultz, and Holmes fought for the WBC version two weeks before that, wouldnt it be better if Foreman-Holmes was made, two 46-year olds for the linear heavyweight championship.
