  • Isn't it depressing there was never a Holmes-Foreman bout?

I know Larry always wanted it but I got the feeling George didn't. It really should have happened back in the '90's. But, then again we never did get Lewis-Bowe...

Styles makes fights and George didn't want it. He did want a Tyson fight for this same reason. Tyson's style was more suited to him.

      It's not depressing for George.

If Holmes was in shape, then he could probably beat Foreman in much the same fashion that Tommy Morrison did.

If he came in in the same shape he did against Tyson, Foreman takes him out in two rounds.

It would have been interesting enough to watch, but I don't think boxing history is tainted by this nearly as much as (for example) no Lewis-Bowe fight. It really would have been a novelty fight. Now if Foreman had stayed active and we're talking about the very late 1970's, then it's a whole different story.

If it had happened in the 90s I get the feeling it would have been a pretty awful fight. If Foreman hadn't retired in the 70s and the fight took place circa 1978 it would have been great.

Not really a big deal imo. Now Holmes-Foreman in the 70s, I could get behind.

would have been a fight Foreman could win pre Ali. In the 90's I see Holmes winning easily with a few shaky moments.

I'd actually pick prime George over Holmes however. I don't think Holmes could survive like Ali did (especially in a more neutral temp), and Holmes depended on his jab ever so much, Foreman had a great jab as well.

Even in 1999, I still wanna see it for the sake of boxing fans having an idea how they fare against each other in their prime, Foreman wouldnt care less when the bout was postponed. He never wanted to fight Holmes.

I'd like to see a virtual fight between prime Holmes and prime Foreman something along the lines of the Ali - Marciano Super Fight that was produced by old videos and computers.
