Joe Calzaghe is one of the best Welsh boxers of all time, yet the last two opponents he fought were Americans with Welsh surnames, whilst he himself has an Italian surname.

August 2002, Showtime televises a championship double header. In the first bout for the WBO flyweight title, Nelson Dieppa and John Alberto Molina clash heads and the bout is declared a technical draw at 2:13 of the second round.
Showtime is confident the show is ok because the second bout is Derrick Gainer defending his WBA featherweight belt against the undefeated Daniel Seda.
In the second round of the main event the fighters clash heads and the bout is decared a technal draw at yes, 2:13 of the second round!

Showtime of course is embarassed with a 20min. episode of championship boxing.

That's very interesting. Green sent. I'm not familiar with the Minter fiasco though.

what a mess. Hagler went over to England to finally get his title shot. He wins. Then the British crowd started with racial chants, chucking garbage and beer bottles, etc.

Thanks Tim. I read about what happened after I posted that but thanks for the video. He also said before the fight "I will never lose my title to a black man" which he later changed to get rid of "black" from the statement.

Before the first Louis- Schmeling fight, Louis was asked by his trainer Blackburn his thoughts on the fight with Schmeling and Louis said "You can bet it's not going the full fifteen rounds". Of course it didnt- for him.
