  • Ironies in classic boxing...

Joe Louis didn't belong in the ring anymore by the time he fought Marciano.. Isn't that why he knocked him out of the ring?

Larry Holmes was perhaps one of the most serious boxers ever. But, why did he end his career on a Butterbean fight?

Why did Floyd Mayweather almost always fight in the month of May?

Many people believe that Mike Tyson went spiraling downhill as a boxer after the loss of his trainer, Kevin Rooney. Isn't it funny, how his last and worst performance was against a boxer named Kevin? Also, isn't it ironic how his knockdowns against Douglas & Holyfield eerily resembled the way he fell in Mike Tyson's Punch Out!?

Andrew Golota got DQ'd for low blows in the first Bowe fight. Why was he hell-bent on getting DQ'd in the second fight the same way?

Evander Holyfield has always been extremely religious. With a surname like his, how can he not be?

Some of those are just coincidences.

Hagler's camp vetoing a British judge prior to the Leonard fight, opting instead for judge Jose Guerra, who scored it 118-110 for Leonard. Meanwhile, dismissed British judge watched the fight on TV and scored it for Hagler.

          That one has to sting.

Do you know why they vetoed him?

It was based on what had happened in the Minter-Hagler fiasco in London. Hagler's camp was concerned that a British judge might harbor some resentment over the ending to that fight.

Very possible, but I can't imagine that Sugar Ray Leonard himself could have done a worse job scoring than JoJo's 118-110.

Probably. Can't see how he'd score it for Hagler
