You are confused indeed. Floyd never fought part time fighters for a title. Roy did. You probably were not following boxing at the time or you would remember the **** he was given for that.

If Floyd stayed in a division and cleaned it out the way Roy did at light heavy, I doubt people would care that much if he ended up fighting a few guys like that.

Floyd cleaned 130 just as much as Roy cleaned 175. Before you say "Casamayor and Freitas", think "Nunn and DM".

No one cares if Roy fought warm up fights against Bryant Bannon or Richard Frazier. Roy fought superior competition in every way. Just because you're too simple to appreciate dominant stoppage wins against Thomas Tate or Clinton Woods doesn't mean they aren't credible wins especially considering neither one are top 10 win on Roy's resume.

Just because you don't know who Merqui Sosa, Reggie Johnson or Julio Cesar Gonzalez are doesn't mean they aren't legitimately tough, dangerous, and credible fighters who are MEANINGFUL wins for Roy.

I know who they all are, and Johnson was the only one close to a meaningful win. Sosa and Gonzalez were just tough journeymen, clearly not in the class of Roy Jones.

Gonzalez beat Dariusz, Glen Johnson and Montell Griffin ... Merqui Sosa beat Prince Charles twice, beat Glen Johnson and gave Toney and Nunn hell Just because Roy made them look bad doesn't mean they weren't very good fighters and dangerous opponents.

They were good clubfighters/fringe contenders, nothing more. Gonzalez caught DM at the end of his career. Everyone beats Glen Johnson (well except Roy) and that was a robbery anyway. Sosa beat Williams once (not twice) and lost to Nunn and (pre prime) Toney.

I've always been a Jones fan. But this is the truth about those fighters.

I agree, people who dominate divisions need easy fights inbetween everyone is guilty of it. You can't fight top fighter after top fighter and still come out on top. It just doesn't happen.

Marvin Hagler fought Caveman Lee for the title.
Joe Frazier fought Bob Foster, Ron Stander for the world title.

There's some from my favourite fighters, it's just one of them things.

A lot of fighters do take breaks via non-title fights though.

robinson used to own a title (either the middlweight or welterweight championship of the world) and often fight more than once a month in between defenses, racking up gobs of non title fights. lots of pushover types, considering who is doing the pushing.
