The biggest inaccuracy is how they portrayed Baer to be a bad guy. There were others but I gotta run at the moment.

Very Close!! The Braddock family signed off on it and Dundee and others brought real authenticity to the boxing scenes and Russel Crowe was outstanding in recreating Braddock in the ring. I thought the movie was fantastic as a boxing film but even better showing how people were devasted by the depression. Tuff times for the entire counrty, the only other great fight film for me is "Hard Times" with Bronson as a for hire street fighter during the depression. Bronson had great hands! Ray.

From watching ALL of the extra stuff on the DVD (directors commentary included), most of it was very true to the real deal. The Mike Wilson character was not real (the guy Jim worked with on the docks, had beers with as well). They did say he was a combination of people Braddock knew at the time though.

The part that irked me the most though is how Baer was treated as though he was an ignorant, bloodthirsty monster of a killer. Sure he did kill 2 men in the ring, but as I stated before, I read that he felt deeply guilty for it, and even paid for one of the killed fighters sons to go through school.

I forgot to mention this, but the little girl that plays Braddocks young daughter in the film goes to school with my 12 year old son! Her name is Ariel Waller, and she was also in one of my son's favorite tv shows as well. She said she has quit acting now as it doesn't interest her any longer. I couldn't believe it when I found out my son was friends with her at school as she worked in my favorite movie with one of my favorite actors! My son asked her how cool it was working with Russell Crowe, one of the best actors in the world. She just said that he was incredibly nice and fun, but it was no big deal (she was 4 or 5 when they filmed I think...LOL)

Also the 15th round of the Braddock-Baer fight wasn't nearly as exciting as in the movie. Written descriptions of it make it sound rather uneventful.
