I speak from having thrown it, and having been hit by it in a professional fight. It is an EXCELLENT punch to use. Especially when you shift your weight to feint the hook upstairs and throw a straight right to the Solar Plexus.

How about Ezzard Charles? He does not have great speed but he was still a fast dude.

Liston and Louis are fairly close to your criteria. Liston didn't have great speed, but most fights he would begin as a boxer, even if he usually ended up punching his opponent out eventually. Usually fairly early and maybe earlier than what you're looking for. Louis wasn't really a classical boxer either.

Both have murderous straight rights to the body, I believe that's the punch Louis made Schmeling blind for 3 seconds and too paralyzed to fall over with. Liston used his own to hurt Ali with in their first fight. That's something special in its own right.

Both Morales, and the aforementioned Tommy Hearns have great and oft used straight rights to the body. Morales' straight right to the body was his signature punch, used throughout his entire career with amazing results. Dropped guys with it, Barrera for one, and knocked out guys with it, Zaragoza for another. As for Hearns, watch how well Hearns uses the straight right to the body against Ray Leonard in their first fight. Beautifully executed to make Ray keep guessing when it going down and when it was coming up.

As for the OP, Hearns is the perfect match. It doesn't get any more so than Hearns. He ticks every box better than anybody in history probably.

I don't remember Hearns ever using a straight right to the body?

A gentleman named 'Sugar Ray Robinson' fits those superlatives nicely.

The only contentious issue was with the right to the body, whilst he did throw this punch fairly regularly it could have been argued that he slightly favoured the right hook to the body.

FMJ. Has a great jab when he uses it. Very quick, a lot of snap. One of the best 1-2's in the business.
