Saad Muhammad was a much more accomplished light heavyweight than Hopkins. This is kind of like when you said "Liston didn't throw body shots." By the time Hopkins started exclusively fighting at 175 he was already 41 years of age. And he should be glad he hasn't had to face anybody like Saad Muhammad during his current run. Pascal and Tarver aint Saad Muhammad by a long shot.

Hopkins rates much higher overall than Saad Muhammad. But he does NOT rate higher at 175.

It says prime for prime, I assumed it was suggesting that a prime Hopkins adds on the weight. I don't think there is anything wrong with saying Hopkins would win, I'd pick him to win myself.

In his prime, yes. Hopkins was a better fighter. My main point was that it's not crazy to pick Saad over Hopkins here. Especially when Hopkins prime was spent entirely at 160. The same with Calzaghe.

My mistake. He was stopped by Doug Jones, but even tho Foster weighed at just under 175, Jones weighed above that. So it can't be counted.

I don't put much stock into size and the size difference here isn't huge, generally the better fighter wins, though I'm not 100% convinced in picking Hopkins. I rate Saad above Calzaghe, I'd pick Saad to win and it has little to do with size.

Holy shyt I cannot believe what I am reading.

Beating B level Marvin Johnson and Yaqui Lopez and getting knocked out by Qawi twice is more accomplished then Tarver(#1 light heavyweight), Winky(#2 pound for pound), Pavlik(top 10 pound for pound), Pascal(#1 light heavyweight)

Let me know what Winky Wright and Kelly Pavlik ever accomplished at 175 pounds. Or better yet, how was Tarver or Pascal more accomplished than Marvin Johnson or John Conteh? We can start there. Go.......

*I see you've now upgraded Johnson and Lopez from C level to B level

Johnson and Lopez would beat any of those guys at 175. Winky and Pavlik were catchweights because they were really middleweights and Pascal isn't as good as Yaqui or Johnson.

Hopkins rates much higher overall than Saad Muhammad. But he does NOT rate higher at 175.
Hopkins is not a LHW anyway, but I think it's a great match-up anyway, Hopkins may win it giving away some weight, but Saad Muhammad is far more dangerous than the LHW's Bernard faced, Jones is better equipped to handle Saad. I rate Hopkins much higher on any ATG lists..... but that doesn't necessarily mean Hopkins walks away with it against top Light Heavies.
