  • Mark Breland today

How would he do against today's welters? Him vs Margarito woulda been an interesting fight. I'm not sure how well he'd do against FMJ, but I reckon with his size, reach and boxing skills, as well as power, he'd at least have a chance. The only man who really had his number was Starling and both those fights were rather close. The first was a TKO but Breland did well in the first 8-9 rounds and actually collapsed as much from exhaustion as much as from Starling's constant attack. Starling roughoused him also.

Honestly I see Margarito walking Breland down similar to the way Aaron Davis did and I think he throws in more volume than Davis does, and I see him stopping Breland late. A fight with Breland and Floyd is a tricky one but I see floyd edging him out over the distance

I think style wise Breland would be bad for Mayweather, so if Breland was in his prime today the fight would not happen.

Absolutely. Floyd has never fought anyone with a strong consistent jab like Breland. I'm not saying that Floyd wouldn't win that fight. Just that he would have to get get more than he likes doing it.

He would be a tough style match up for any of the top welters today. And Pacquiao and his team wouldn't make that fight either based on their choice of opponents lately. And I'm not even sure Breland would beat either one.

Well, Aaron Davis had his number too. At least in their one fight.

I can't see Arum allowing Pacquiao getting in there with a very tall welter with solid ring skills either.
