20 billion:Do you agree with D'Amato that a swarming fighter could never beat Foreman

Cus told Mike that a fighter who came to Foreman could not beat him, that includes fighters like Dempsey, Marciano and Tyson himself, it's even said that was one of the reasons Tyson never faced him in 1990. So agree or disagree?

I agree. Even if shavers hit harder, he had nowhere near the arsenal of big G or the the finishing ability.

It's not smart to say "never" in anything, especially boxing. But I wouldn't want to be a swarmer against Foreman. That would be like trying to derail a train with a Honda. Could it work? Maybe, but you're getting fucked up in the process. And I don't know how many people can withstand that level of getting fucked up.

yes. Its not only Foreman's sledgehammer punching power that makes it difficult, its just in general his amazing strength. If you watched a lot of his fights he could literally just push opponents off him, straight to the ground sometimes. Its hard to fight on the inside when some guy is just throwing you around like that, you cant even get your footing to punch with authority.

It's dead accurate. Swarming Foreman is signing your own death warrant. Dempsey might have a shot, but only because of the above mentioned fighters he's the only one who could change tactics and fight as something OTHER then a swarmer.

An underrated aspect of Foreman is his athleticism. Look at the combo's he used to finish off Lyle and Norton leaping hooks and uppercuts that are deadly accurate

Never say never, it all depends on how good this 'Swarmer' is, does he have a punch from hell ???, is he "BIGGER" than George ???,... is he someone that wasn't around at the time ?? (answer is more likely to be yes),,.. there are many factors in a fighters makeup,.. I doubt if there's any successful swarmers that had a combination of slow speed, powderpuff fists, glass jaw, midgets in comparison to his opponent, and total unco-ordination, at least I've never heard of a combination to be successful..... I don't think there was anyone around in George's time that could (70's), but Tyson could have got lucky I suppose, and a prime Liston and a Bigger version of Marciano or Dempsey (not them but some future 6ft 5in & 240 lbs version),.. (well those two anyway)....... Does George's chin survive any blow possible,... Does anyone really ???.... there's the flaw in D'Amato's statement..... in other words. NEVER SAY NEVER,...

Liston wasn't a swarmer though: He was a boxer-puncher. The other thing is that if someone bigger then George they simply wouldn't be fighting as a swarmer. Swarmers are usually swarmers because their body-types (short arms, stocky build) dictate that they fight that way.
