    Duran vs Canzoneri POLL

    Both prime who wins....

i would pick duran in a close fight and canzoneri would probably give him some frustrating moments...

it would be an incredible fight IMO

Despite being an awkward style match up for Duran he overcomes it to take a close but, clear decision.

Ill take Duran by late stoppage. Canzoneri was great, but you're not gonna hold that left hand so low and not have Duran make you pay for it over and over.

You know what ???.... I'm gonna go with Tony. Yes Jab those hands are low, but they are like the Venus-fly-trap. Tony wants you to come and hit him, like Duran, he eats 'em up. Just because I have Roberto ahead on my LW list (CO. 6, TC. 5, PMcF, 4, Duran 3), does not mean he wins head to head. Duran was dominant yes, but his level of competition does not compare to Tony's (I'm talking LW) and therefore Duran is going to have to step up in class. Duran was a throwback to the Canzoneri era, therefore Tony has definitely met the type before. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking at several factors, Canzoneri's superior footwork, Canzoneri's great power and his ability to land one you never see coming. It is also a classic pressure fighter versus the brilliant counter-puncher who can rock anybody bad enough to blow them away with the follow up. They are both tough with Duran seriously unlikely to be KO'd by nearly any LW and I think he has a better chin but there's not much wrong with tony's either. I actually don't rate Duran very high above LW, after moving up the competition closed up a lot tighter for Duran as it did for Canzoneri. We see two fighters at their optimum weight and would be a fight for the ages. In closing I think Duran dominates early but as the fight goes on I see Tony having a lot of success in countering and his power may even things up by the 10th. Then the real fight begins with 5 rounds to go, Tony starts throwing his hardest punches as Duran goes from enraged to down-right rabid insanity. By round 13, 40 fans have fainted and 3 have died from a coronary but Duran and Canzoneri are still trying to kill each other. In the 15th the ref warns both men that he's about to leave the stadium if there's one more elbow or head butt, and he takes a point from Duran in an earlier round and that is where I think Tony edges out a split decision victory with an immediate re-match ordered. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think Duran was a very dirty fighter at times and I think he intimidated referee's maybe more than opponents, I have to say that Duran should have been forced to fight Buchanan again before he earned that title,...... he did deliberately hit him in the NUTS... I'm 100% sure of that. So a Duran fight needs a no- nonsense referee,... And in a fantasy fight we MUST have one of those. I made this an extensive reply because I know I won't be popular with my pick, but I don't care, I'm not a boxer. so I'm not trying to win a popularity contest.

Canzoneri lost too many fights to get my vote. At lightweight. Duran only lost one and avenged it twice.

he nit him low for sure and it was probably deliberatly but they were exchanging after the bell and duran ws probavly like "*** it he hits me after the bell ill crack him low"

but he was dominating the fight anyways.....

i actualy thing tony would use his fotwork early and take the ealry rounds and then themiddle would be back adn forth but duran would work the body and coem the late rounds when its close he takes the last coule rounds to take a decsion or gets a stopage vitory...

i think it would be really damn close though...

                and an excelent style matchup...

he held it low but he could pick punches of with his shoulder andmove hes head and feat to avoid punches.
