Of course the only real gameplan is the one Don King used: Pay off the judges :cool9:

      That was a legit draw!

To be fair, the fight was a LOT closer before those two horrendous low blows. Chavez was hitting on the hip, but so was Whitaker. Then Whitaker went a little further and Chavez never recovered after that. It would have been interesting to see how the fight would played out without the fouls. Not saying it would have gone differently, but it may have.

Last time I scored that fight I gave Chavez 4 rounds max and I was being generous.

          My card:

          ROUND 1: 10-9 Chavez

This was an unusually fast start for Chavez, who was aggressive but didn’t score often. Whitaker was content to dance around the ring and make Chavez miss. Chavez landed some effective body work but not much. Wins it mainly on aggression.

          ROUND 2: 10-9 Chavez

Excellent action round from both fighters. Chavez slightly outlanded Whitaker, who had some very good moments. But overall, Chavez controlled that round. Both guys traded fouls – on several occasions, Chavez hit Whitaker below the belt, both on the hip and even further south and Whitaker fired the same foul right back.

          ROUND 3: 10-9 Whitaker

Picture-perfect round for Whitaker, who did not take many punches and landed his jab and a straight left with regularity. Whitaker’s jab really controlled the round, landing it in rapid succession.

          ROUND 4: 10-9 Whitaker

Very tactical round with good solid action. Whitaker controlled the majority of the road. The most telling blows that Chavez landed were four hooks to the thigh. Whitaker landed several hard combinations and began working in a sturdy right hook to the body.

          ROUND 5: 10-9 Whitaker

Very good round for Whitaker, who outworked and outlanded Chavez who was consistent to the body. Turned him around and hit him on the rotation. They traded big shots at the end.

          ROUND 6: 10-9 Whitaker

Another active round for Pernell. He got the better of the very tactical advantage. The most noteworthy occurrence was Whitaker’s retaliation for repeated hooks to the hip – two vicious low blows. After the brief break, Chavez has a good rally.

          Round 7: 10-9 Whitaker

Huge round for Sweet Pea. He landed big shots at will, Chavez landed one significant punch.

          Round 8: 10-9 Whitaker

Another big, big round for Whitaker. His biggest yet. Hit Chavez with everything but the ring stool. If Chavez hadn’t had such a beard, he would been on the end of a 10-8 round, knockdown or no.

          ROUND 9: 10-9 Chavez

Good back and forth action. Chavez won the majority of the exchanges but took some pretty heavy shots coming back.

          Round 10: 10-9 Whitaker

Slow round for Chavez, who got tattooed. Whitaker dominated the action.

          ROUND 11: 10-9 Whitaker

Chavez was very game, but Whitaker controlled the range and landed extremely sharp punches.

          ROUND 12: 10-9 Whitaker

Whitaker landed punches when he had to, ran when he had to. Controlled the action yet again.

          TOTAL: 117-111 Whitaker

I'm the biggest Chavez fan there is (and I was certain he had what was needed to solve the Pea puzzle and beat that ass) and I think you are being generous.

I was. I was throwing him every break I could and he STILL could only get 4 rounds.

I know. But rounds 3-5 were close for the most part. After the low blows, it was more and more one-sided in favor of Whitaker. I just would have liked to see it minus the fouls (on both sides)
