Whitaker throws a lot of punches and a lot of power punches. Not really sure what you're talking about.

Not when he is going backwards the entire fight against a guy with unlimited stamina like Pacquiao or Pryor when is Whitaker going to get off?

Oh and it only gets worse for Whitaker against Meldrick Taylor.
He doesn't throw that much per round if someone is fighting on the backfoot. Sour Shot Oldsley limited him to only 61 a round.

If you move and counter like Marquez, his punch output drops even more. He only managed 52 a round with Juan.

manny is a prime candidate for getting schooled by Pernell.

Agreed, I can only imagine Pacquiao left looking clueless.

I used to disagree but I've come around to this side. Pernell would dominate Pac, let alone Mr. Predictable himself, Aaron Pryor.

Assuming i had someone who could REALLY crack, Julian Jackson kinda crackin, and someone who could keep a Frazier-esque workrate for 15 rounds WHILE keeping that power, I'd tell him to overwhelm while going to the body more than the head.

I myself have fought guys with Whitaker like defenses (but far inferior) and a heavy workrate to the body will get to them eventually.

Another Strategy would be to fight fire with fire, and sit back and wait for him to come to you and employ a similar defense. Make him get out of his comfort zone.

                This stuff^^^

body work and try ont to get frusrated by his elusiveness....

If you read manny's autobiography, you'll find out that he created his style to entertain people and gets bored very easily. He isn't someone with the disciplined and patient temperament required to beat Pernell.

Pernell made a master at cutting the ring off, Cesar, lost. Just imagine how much of a mind **** manny would be in trying to catch Pernell.

They're both southpaws too, so Pernell's right jab would be that much more effective.
