  • Danny "Little Red" Lopez

I can't forgive myself for not including him on my hardest fw punchers list. This guy's power was awesome! 39 kos in 42 wins! He was also a very very tough and brave guy, never quit. Hadn't he run into ATG Sanchez, who knows where his end would be. I believe he'd reign for at least another few years. I think he's underated today.

Both video's are losing efforts but they show how great and how exciting Lopez was.

Great story on Lopez and Chacon and how differently their lives turned out.

I appreciate the tribute to my ATF. A true one punch KO artist. But Lopez too much punishment to last much longer than the Sanchez fights. I don't see him beating Nelson or Gomez if he had fought them instead of SS.

                superhuman right hand

                good uppercut too

just heavy heavy hands for a FW

it looked like his chest belonged on a WW

                short career
got stopped pretty bad twice by sal sanchez at the end of a great run at FW and called it a day

                stopped 5 times total.

he was in some bonafide wars, including a fight of the year with mike ayala

got into the HOF last year in what many considered a rather light class

used to get hit clean pretty often, especially for a tall guy with range (close to 5'8 and more than 70 inches of reach.. huge FW)

but still very much a great fighter in my eyes
would fit in with any FW era and make for classic fights.

can you imagine him i the mix with pacquiao, marquez, barerra, and morales?

I can and I see him beating Pacquiao, Marquez and maybe Barrera also. Neither had such a great defense as Salvador and that was the key to beating Danny, not just having power and good reflexes. You had to be a good boxer too, defensive boxer. Pre-Hamed Barrera that lost twice to Jones would certainly have major issues with Danny Lopez and if Junior Jones could ko him-why couldn't Danny?? Marquez at 126 was also unpolished and not yet a complete fighter as he later became. His first Pacquiao fight shows that. His defense improved later on but still he's quite hittable today, Diaz landed a lot on him after all. And Katsidis dropped him. Pacquiao as a fw possessed some uncanny speed and decent power, but his same flaw was the defense. Thats why Erik managed to beat him, even if that was not at 126. I think only Erik could and would beat Danny for sure, coz his defense was always good and he had great technique as well, not to mention punching power at 122 and 126.

I do like Red Lopez, but pastrano, do you really think he'd beat Pacquiao ???,... Lopez has a punchers chance sure but Maybe I rate Pacquiao higher than you do.
