Nope I am not interested in guys I haven't seen fight more than 3x in crappy quality videos. Oh and by the way never said older fighters a rubbish or anything like that. How could you even know who is great and who isn't without watching them fight.

There are other ways such as detailed newspaper accounts which bust myths, and eyewitness accounts but you don't want to take that into account, because it helps ruin the perception that they cant match up to modern fighters

Everything sounds better when reading it. You could make Arturo Gatti sound like the greatest fighter that ever lived if you never saw him fight and just read about him.

Also its impossible to know if these fighter can or can't matchup because you haven't seen them fight enough

I'm not talking about articles of how great a fighter is, I'm talking about newspaper accounts of the boxers fights ie Greb- Tunney, if these newspaper accounts blow up fighters to mythical proportions then how comes it is from newspapers that historians were able to discredit the myth that Pep won a round without throwing a punch. Not to mention newspaper accounts are usually virtually identical to footage of the fights.

Yeah I figured that out, wonder why he posts in the history section then... we have no footage of Alexander the great, guess we cant be sure whether or not he was a great general.

Yeah I'd say that in the middle of the fight, LaMotta will get Marvin into a slug fest and Marvin would evade more punches than LaMotta (who'd cop all of them), because Jake knows no other way. If the fight was held today, Jake's tactics would backfire when the ref refuses to let him get hurt more and stops the fight. But the fight will be closer than the 6th SRR fight, and remember Hagler Vs Hearns, Marvin was VERY happy to slug it out to the finish. I acknowledge that Hagler has the ability to change his approach, that's the real difference between the two.
