Stalker - primarily likes to go forward but in a measured manner. Fights at a shorter range than boxer but not by much. Joe Louis, Hagler.

Slugger - likes to move forward like the stalker but wilder in his approach. Pacquiao, Dempsey, Armstrong.

Naturally, all fighters take on all 4 of the above roles during the course of a fight and during their careers. Those classifications are simply their PRIMARY method of fighting mixing in the other styles in order to add some variety. Boxer Ali sometimes stalked. Slugger Pacquiao sometimes boxes. Stalker Hagler sometimes boxed. Counter puncher Mayweather sometimes slugged women.
Forgive me for the poor choice of the word simplistic I don't doubt you know your boxing and simplistic probably gives that impression. A better choice of word would be general. Let's take Dempsey for example, I would say Dempsey was more of a stalker. Sure once he got the upper hand he could get wild as he was a ruthless finisher and looked more frenzied than the more economical Louis say. But to call Dempsey purely a slugger doesn't cover his skills IMO

Sorry to burst your bubble but Archie Moore wasn't a slugger.

Duran was a classic boxer-puncher who could go to war or patiently box whichever was appropriate for the situation. Obviously you've never watched any prime Duran. Not surprising since you know next to nothing about 99.9% of the fighters you comment on.

Come back when you actually learn something about boxing Junior. It's pretty damn obvious that you're a veritable font of ignorance when it comes to the subject. Try getting a clue rather then pulling things out of your ass :jerk0ff9:

I'm not saying he was, I'm just pointing out that he could slug when he had too, and he dropped many with a single blow. I was pointing out his KO record, but acknowledge that Archie was a Boxer/Puncher.

You should probably watch boxers and analyze their style before saying they're sluggers, Roberto Duran was just this
Counter Puncher - fights primarily by using feints to draw and opponent into committing to a blow that the counter puncher exploits.
Him being a slugger is a myth and like I said if you actually paid attention you'd be able to see it.

Ike Williams is a slugger now as well?.

Slugger - likes to move forward like the stalker but wilder in his approach.
You really think that this describes Ike ?

Don't really know what to say other then you obviously haven't seen Ike fight, he did most of his work of the jab and picked his times to get in do damage when he saw a hole and get back out unless he could handle them, he was a boxer / puncher.
