George Foreman is the greatest slugger ever. Oh and that is an absolutely awful list

The problem is a lot of people break fighters down into either "boxers" or "slugger" with sluggers being everyone who doesn't qualify as a "slick boxer"......The problem comes in as there's more than just two types of fighters :cool9:

I kind of associate slugger with your Graziano kill or be killed route one only plan A kind of fighter, so I wouldn't necessarily count most of your fighters with that. Give you Gatti and Marciano but think slugger is a bit simplistic for a lot of the fighters you mention

Counter Puncher - fights primarily by using feints to draw and opponent into committing to a blow that the counter puncher exploits. Benny Leonard, Mayweather, Benitez.

Boxer - fights primarily long range, and using side to side movements but more offensive minded than counter puncher. Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard.

Stalker - primarily likes to go forward but in a measured manner. Fights at a shorter range than boxer but not by much. Joe Louis, Hagler.

Slugger - likes to move forward like the stalker but wilder in his approach. Pacquiao, Dempsey, Armstrong.

Naturally, all fighters take on all 4 of the above roles during the course of a fight and during their careers. Those classifications are simply their PRIMARY method of fighting mixing in the other styles in order to add some variety. Boxer Ali sometimes stalked. Slugger Pacquiao sometimes boxes. Stalker Hagler sometimes boxed. Counter puncher Mayweather sometimes slugged women.
