  • James Toney vs Michael Moorer @ LHW & HW

At lightheavyweight, I pick Toney to out think and outbox Moorer to a decision. Pretty easy for me to pick too. Moorer was a lil green at that weight

At heavyweight, it gets more interesting because of both fighters weaknesses at that weight.

Moorer was alot slower on his feet and was a better technician then he was at LHW. He just a better approach. Moorer was ultimately more proven there and had more fights, as well as actually becoming a real champion.

Toney was slower, and most of the time wasn't in shape. but i think he had more ability and skills then Moorer. he could make it interesting.

    I pick Moorer at heavyweight.

    Your thoughts?

Other than the Holyfield fight, I don't think I can recall a time it looked like Toney was in serious shape at 175 or HW. Then again, Moorer wasn't exactly Mayweather when it came to giving 100% in the gym. At HW, I could see a prime Moorer having a tough time with the version of Toney that dismantled Evander but I'd make him a slight favorite over the other versions that showed up in the ring.

175 was closer to Toneys prime weight then the 220 version that fought Holy. Toney looked pretty good at 175.

On paper Moorer looks like the winner, but Toney has a stronger core and he would find a way to win.

At LHW, I'd take Toney in a close fight. At HW, I don't know. Toney's too inconsistentm unless we're adhering to the 'at their best' policy....

                At lightheavyweight ... Moorer
                At heavyweight ... Moorer

Moorer is way underestimated due to the foreman loss.

I have to agree with those that went with Toney at light heavy but not at heavy. In spite of Moorer's impressive ko percentage as wbo light heavy titlist, his level of competition at the weight leaves a lot to be desired. Toney at heavy neither had the power or strength to take advantage of Moorer's weaknesses.
